Key Accountabilities
  • Support the establishment and implementation of sophisticated clinical bio-informatics strategies and models for the Genome Program to enable effective data acquisition, management, storage, use and application of large-scale genomic data, ensuring adherence to established ethical standards
  • Participate with scientists in the genomics research and functional genomics groups to understand their bioinformatics needs; technical input and partner with relevant IT infrastructure experts to develop and maintain the computational infrastructure, and tools to meet the needs
  • Identify new and innovative ways to improve methods in genomic data acquisition, management and application, leveraging scientific literatures and knowledge of technological advancement in the discipline
  • Facilitate discussions with relevant parties to brainstorm and resolve technical challenges or issues related to bioinformatics raised by scientific working groups and related entities
  • Map the bioinformatics technical capabilities of the working groups and partners supporting the Genome Program to identify opportunities and gaps, and propose capability building interventions
  • Review and validate related technical documents prepared such as protocol and guidelines and manuals that will be used across the working groups
  • Assist in the development of training materials on using and interpreting genomic data to enhance understanding and utilization of the data, contributing towards the development of knowledge incubators and graduate programs
Preferred Experience And Exposure
  • Knowledge of strategies for achieving effective data acquisition, management, quality, storage, use and application
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, policies regarding security, privacy, and management of confidential data.
  • Knowledge of general methodologies relating to whole genome sequencing and interpreting genomics data.
  • Knowledge and experience with a wide range of biological databases and resources
  • Strong statistical knowledge and programming skills using related tools as well as ability to prototype software solutions for data analysis
